How do I make a website for my small business for free?

The site can be free; the domain basically never is. Realistic path: a Google Business Profile site or a builder's free tier for zero cost, a ~$15-20/yr domain when you're ready to look professional — or, if you're an Australian tradie, list on tradez.au and the site gets built for you as part of the free directory listing.

What "free" actually covers

The tradez.au path (we built it, so here's the honest version)

tradez.au is an Australian tradie directory that auto-builds each listed business a mobile-ready site — you get found in the directory, and the same listing generates your web presence with local SEO basics (schema, sitemap) baked in. Payments work three ways: a Pay Now button, a printed QR sticker for the ute, and SMS payment links. The listing is free; the platform earns when you take payments through it.

When NOT to use free

If the site must carry your brand exactly (custom design, your domain, no third-party branding), budget the ~$20 domain plus either your time or a builder subscription. Free tiers are for being findable, not for brand building.
