It is. 3.14159… in base ten and 3;1848 0949… in base twelve are the same number — one divided into tenths, the other into twelfths. The ; marks the dozenal point. Watch the dozenal digits converge on π digit by digit:

Twelve divides by 2, 3, 4 and 6 — so thirds and quarters get clean dozenal expansions (⅓ = 0;4, ¾ = 0;9) — while π’s dozenal digits run on forever, never repeating.
